The Lenglen bag. Pleated elegance
The Lacoste FW24 fashion show left its mark on the fashion world with its French Fashion Sport allure and the return of the pleat, the house's iconic feminine code. Among the must-haves seen during the show? The Lenglen bag, which sold out straight after its release, is back in new sizes.

Exceptional design
The Lenglen bag draws its inspiration from the tennis skirt. Just like the sports garment, it features specially-crafted pleats in smooth leather, mounted on a nylon storage pouch. Available in 2 sizes, crossbody or shoulder version, the Lenglen bag is the new city essential. A fusion of fashion and sport, it represents Lacoste's feminine allure, forever elegant, always on the move. Just like Suzanne Lenglen...

From history to design
The Lenglen bag is named after Suzanne Lenglen, a tennis legend of the 1920s. As the first player in history to compete in a pleated skirt, she embodied the liberation of women in sport, inscribing the pleat in the Lacoste heritage forever. For several seasons now, Pelagia Kolotouros, the brand's Creative Director, has been delivering a contemporary reinterpretation of the brand's history. The Lenglen bag was born from her desire to give the tennis skirt a new perspective - in the form of a bag. “The positioning of the pleats is no fluke,” confides Sylvie Bisselbach of the Lenglen. A leather goods designer at Lacoste, she was behind the creation of the bag itself, the culmination of 9 months of fine-tuning.
“The pleats were meticulously studied in our Paris workshop to offer flexibility, strength and elegance at the same time. Each fold follows a precise geometry, designed to ensure that they don't move. This technique enables the bag to retain its shape while remaining light and functional”,
Sylvie Bisselbach, Leather Goods Designer at Lacoste.

The pleat, an iconic code
”For the show, the bag consisted of a leather skirt stitched onto the clutch. We evolved it with flat pleats, shoulder straps and several formats...” adds Sylvie Bisselbach. Today, the Lenglen is versatile and ever-more chic.
Born on the tennis court, the bag's pleats accompany every silhouette with suppleness and boldness, etching their elegant undulations as the ultimate women's Lacoste code for years to come.
