Inauguration of a tennis court in Casablanca
On 24 April 2024, the Lacoste Foundation, the TIBU Morocco association and the Safari company inaugurated a newly renovated court in Casablanca. This was an opportunity to promote tennis among young people in the ‘Learn, Play & Thrive Collective’ programme.
A court for young people
What's on the agenda for the day? The inauguration of the tennis court and the unveiling of the fresco in the colours of the crocodile, created by Moroccan artist Amine Brush. In the presence of representatives of the Lacoste Foundation, the TIBU association and the Safari company, young players from the white city took part in a friendly tournament and had the opportunity to witness the talent of Selima Sfar. The former tennis champion, who is a member of the Lacoste Foundation's executive committee, treated them to some clinical tennis and shared insights about her career.
Tennis as a springboard
Launched in May 2022 by the TIBU Maroc association, which promotes social innovation through sport, the tennis branch of the ‘Learn, Play & Thrive Collective’ programme is supported by the Lacoste Foundation and the Safari company. Its aim is to promote tennis as a springboard for access to education, social inclusion and professional integration for young people in Casablanca through lessons and educational sessions.
An elevating project
"We are convinced that sport is a formidable vector for the embracing of values essential to the development of young people, a powerful tool for re-engaging young people and for their social and professional integration", said Pierre-André Maus, Chairman of the Lacoste Foundation. Mohamed Amine Zariat, President of the NGO Tibu Africa, shared this view, highlighting the positive results of the programme and the partnership:"We are delighted to renew our partnership with the Lacoste Foundation. By 2022, we will have enrolled almost a hundred children on the path to educational and professional success thanks to the programme".
