AH24 fashion show: the inspiration
The Lacoste AH24 fashion show took place on centre court at Roland-Garros on 5 March 2024. The first show designed by creative director Pelagia Kolotouros for the legendary crocodile brand was entitled ‘The Victoty of 1927’ and featured pieces that are now available on lacoste.com and in shops. Discover their inspirations.
René Lacoste, the elegance of the 30s
Winner of the Davis Cup in 1927, René Lacoste was not only a tennis champion, he was also particularly elegant. For her first Lacoste show, Pelagia Kolotouros paid tribute to the brand's founder, drawing inspiration from his many ocean liner crossings to New York.
The large coats and blazers were reinterpretations of René Lacoste's signature pieces, photographed on numerous occasions on the transatlantic liner. They also revisit his famous white blazer, decorated on the breast pocket with the brand's first ever crocodile, created by designer Robert George.
There are many references to the elegance of Lacoste's founder: fitted jersey polo shirts, scarf collars and high-waisted trousers are, for some, exact replicas of René Lacoste's personal wardrobe, while other pieces reinterpret the codes of the 1930s.
Playful details
Linings, embroideries, pleats, colours: the pieces on the runway combine know-how and inspiration to create a modern silhouette with graphic details from the archives along with tailor-made finishes.
New for Lacoste, black became an essential colour, with a succession of ‘clay’ shades. ‘The Victory of 1927’ is a collection that reasserts Lacoste's heritage of expertise and bridges the gap between past and present. For timeless elegance that moves ahead.
